Wing to Wing with a Spitfire,
taking you back to 1945...

Your Wingman Details:

Aircraft Type:              Supermarine Spitfire Vc EE602

Year of Manufacture:  1942

Powered by:               Rolls Royce Merlin 46

Colour Scheme.          RAF 129 Squadron EE602 ‘Central Railways Uruguayan Staff

On 11th September 1942 Spitfire MK Vc EE602 was built by Westland in Yeovil, Somerset under contract number B124305/40. When built, EE602 was fitted with the universal ‘C’ wing configuration. This allowed it to be fitted either with 8 machine guns, 4 20mm canons or a mix of 4 .303 machine guns and two 20mm canons. This aircraft had the mix of machine guns and cannons. It was fitted with a Rolls Royce Merlin 46 engine. This produced 1,415 bhp at 3,000 rpm and +16 ib/sq. in. boost at 14.000 ft.

EE602 started out with 66 Squadron. 66 was the second Spitfire Squadron to come into existence and fought in the Battle of Britain. She then went to 129 Squadron, in recognition of the large sums of money the Indian Government raised through the sale of War Bonds some squadrons were named after Indian provinces and 129 was named ‘Mysore’ Squadron. Its final squadron was 453 Squadron (RAAF).

EE602 completed over 100 Missions including escorting the Flying Fortress ‘Memphis Belle’ back to the English coast after her now famous 25th Mission with 129 sqdn, until she was damaged in a taxiing incident and taken off charge

The Cessna 208, the toughest, most reliable, and most capable medium weight aircraft ever built. Powered by a new generation of ultra reliable 675 hp gas turbine engine manufactured by Pratt and Whitney that makes this aircraft at least as twice as safe as twin engine piston aircraft. For the technically minded there is more redundancy in the 208’s systems than in many of the twin engine aircraft it replaces.

The Cessna 208 Caravan is a utility aircraft produced by Cessna. The project was commenced on November 20, 1981, and the prototype first flew on December 9, 1982. The 4 ft (1.2 m) longer 208B Super Cargomaster first flew in 1986 and was developed into the passenger 208B Grand Caravan which is the Caravan we are using for your flight.

The Cessna Caravan has large windows and strutted high wings which are ideal for aerial photography flights, giving you amazing views of the Spitfire and the ground below.

So, what makes us different from the rest?

You can take images from an open cargo door at the rear of the aircraft. Using a Caravan we can strap you into a harness, secure you to the aircraft, and give you the best vantage point in the house. Put simply, this gets you closer to the action than ever before.

Onboard your flight you will be joined by our Pilot Bruce, a ProFly Crew member and up to nine photographers. We are offering you pre-defined routes, from a Dambusters Raid to Disused RAF Airfields, you decide - see 'Flights' available.

Leeds East Airport, formerly RAF Church Fenton, is the prestigious venue for our event. The airfield is steeped in history. Since opening on the 1st April 1937, the airfield has been home to many squadrons and aircraft types, such as Spitfires, Hurricanes, Mosquitoes, Blenheims, Beaufighters, Hawker Hunters, Typhoons and Mustangs.

During WWII the airfield's role was initially part of the defensive network of fighter airfields that protected the industrial cities of northern England from attack by German bombers. In 1940 Church Fenton was transferred to 12 group, responsible for training night fighter aircrew.

In July 1959, the station ceased being a front line home defence station, and changed its role to that of pilot training, one which it carried out to the end of its time as an RAF station. On 25 March 2013 it was announced that Church Fenton would close by the end of 2013 and the unit would be relocated to RAF Linton-on-Ouse by 31 December 2013.

The airport is now a privately owned airport welcoming both General Aviation and Commercial aircraft. The airport is ideally situated just 15 miles from Leeds, and 10 miles from York. During your experience you will have access to the airports brand new luxurious VIP Lounge offering superior comfort and everything you need. During your flight your guests will have access to the newly refurbished Members Lounge which is located on the first floor of the Control Tower giving them superb views of the airfield. Leeds East benefits from four runways, 06-24 which are nearly 1,800m  long & runway 16-34. You and your guests will also have access to The Fenton Cafe which serves delicious food, drinks and snacks throughout the day.

Mission: Operation Vigilant

On arrival at the airfield gates, you will be directed to the airports VIP Lounge where you will be welcomed by one of the ProFly Aviation team. As you walk through the lounge you will be greeted with full length glass windows where you will get your first glimpse of the beautiful Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vc. Before moving to the Pilots Briefing Room a welcome brief will be given to you and your guests so everyone knows how the experience is structured. We then move to the Pilots Lounge where you will meet your pilots over a cuppa and cake.

After a short meet and greet you will be given safety, weather, and flight briefs so there are no surprises throughout your experience. Once briefed we will move outside for walkaround of the Spitfire where your pilot will answer any of your questions and our professional photographer will take your picture next to the Spitfire (a printed picture will be ready for you when you land).

The bell will ring, signalling it is time for action stations, it's time to fly! The highlight of your day is here. After you have strapped into the Cessna Caravan, engines will fire in to life before taxiing out with the Spitfire ready for take off. As you take off your envious guests can watch you and the Spitfire soar in to the skies from the Members Lounge vantage point in the Control Tower. Shortly after take off the Spitfire will formate on your aircraft and escort you on your mission over scenic Yorkshire. Each photographer on board will have the opportunity to capture intel from the open bay door at the rear of the aircraft. Our staff member onboard will rotate the photographers in a timely manner. While at the open door you will capture stunning air to air images of the Spitfire in close formation, close enough you'll be able to see the pilot waving

Subject to aircraft in the circuit at Leeds East the Spitfire will return and perform a run and break over the Control Tower wowing your guests.

Post Mission Debrief
